What are the advantages of a technical translation agency over a freelance translator?
An agency handles the entire process: translation by a subject specialist, revision by a second linguist, desktop publishing and deadline control. For large volumes several translators work with a shared terminology base, so the final text is consistent. You have one project manager as your contact, and quality is controlled under ISO 17100.
What is the difference between technical and legal translation?
Technical translation requires precise industry terminology and an understanding of how the described equipment or process works. Legal translation requires alignment with the legal system of the target language and precise wording, because the wording creates obligations. Tender and contract documentation often contains both, so we assign the technical and legal parts to different specialists and align them during revision.
How is the price of a technical translation calculated?
The price is calculated per standard page of 1,800 characters with spaces and depends on the specialisation of the text, the volume, the layout and the deadline. Before every order you receive a written quote with an exact price. For regular clients we offer a fixed price list for 12 months. See our terms for companies.
How quickly do we receive a quote?
Send us your files and you will receive a written quote with an exact price and deadline within the business day. The assessment is free and does not commit you.
Do you handle large volumes and urgent orders?
Yes. For urgent projects we split the documentation between several translators who use the same terminology base, and a reviser aligns the final text.
Do you translate scanned drawings and diagrams?
Yes. We translate drawings, P&ID and single-line diagrams directly in the graphics, including when the original is scanned or in a non-editable format. We return the file in its original layout.
How do you ensure consistent terminology in long-term projects?
For each client we build a glossary and a translation memory in Trados Studio. They are applied to all subsequent orders regardless of which translator works on them, and the reviser checks compliance.
What is formatting and desktop publishing of a translation?
It is recreating the original layout in the translated document: tables, graphics, text in images and drawings, pagination. The goal is a translation that is ready to print or submit without further work on your side. More about the service.
